Liberation 1944 is in the Library | 2014-02-10 19:43 |
Liberation 1944 is now in the PG-HQ Library. This is the 72nd game released in the PG universe and puts us over 1,900 scenarios. PG should crest the 2,000 scenario mark sometime this summer. Hard to believe! |

On January 19th plloyd1010 completed his effort to also rewrite history when he sheathed his katana and turned his back on the smoking hulks of Soviet armor scattered along the banks of the Khalkhin Gol. The glorious rise of Japan in Greater Asia was only just beginning.

This ribbon is an adaptation of the primary colors on the Badge of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol:
- porcelain sky
- golden fields
- Soviet red (naturally)
These badge was issued by the Mongolian People's Republic and was later considered equivalent to a medal, though no ribbon was ever included as far as I can tell.
One day, it would be nice if they make this a non self-construct kit. That said, I believe there were plans distant to have some kind of set on this anyway.
Well done Peter, it must be nice to get your nice self-made counters out on the boards.
Nice ribbon Drew!
In honesty, I should point out that my cousin rewrote history. I spent most of the time on the receiving end. Neither of us really liked most of the scenarios. We both felt Konstantin was trying to force the outcomes too much. Still we did enjoy the games, especially when coupled with a little supplemental reading.
The Motherland will not long suffer this indignation!

We've done the Bulge before so I was casting about a bit on ribbon inspiration. Working backwards:
- These colors are sampled from the shield of Vleteren, which...
- is the home of the Westvleteren Brewery, which...
- brews the world famous Westvleteren XII beer, which...
- is often named in discussions of the world's best beer, and...
- is certainly the best beer in Belgium, which...
- is the location of this supplement's battles, and finally...
- there is a PG-HQ Brew Thread in the forums started by none other than the recipient of this award, so if you'd like to continue on this topic meet him there!
Ok? :-)
Very nice, Shad. To the Site, my suggestion had been the flag of Stavelot (blue; white; yellow), but this is very sharp and I like the red/black hint of Germany. Thanks for your work on this (and for the personal note! Hic!).
I have to put on my professor hat for a moment, however, and point out, dear Leader, that 3+18+10 = 31, not the 30 in the supplement. My tally is
Germany: 18 (10) America: 9 (9) Draw: 3 (1)
With the parenthetical numbers the tally for Scenarios 11-30 (those early Kampfgruppe Peiper scenarios went the SS's way for the most part).
Off to the brew pub ... well, actually, to give a pchem exam. :-(
Congrats PY, along with your promotion! Perhaps we can get a skype play in sometime from here in Deutschland. -Brett N.
I don't usually get these wrong so I took a closer look. :-)
According to the database you played Scenario 6 twice mate! Once with a German win and once with an American win. Looking back at the AAR you posted, maybe you meant to edit/delete the original record but submitted a new one instead?
^ Yep, I must have done something wrong: the first sentence in my AAR is "Firstly, apologies are due as I made an error with the victor with my original play." Ok, I admit, it was all part of a deep seated plan to set Shad's statistics awry! :-)
Brett (and Vince) re: Skype. I don't even like having my picture taken so Skype is something of a taboo to a Luddite like myself. :-) But thanks.

On November 3rd mike perryman took a long, satisfying swig from his canteen as he watched the Germans and Italians scamper away across the desert in a shambles. He was a long, long way from Cape Town, but he knew the folks back home were finally safe.

This is the ribbon of the WW2 Army of Occupation medal, as requested by the inaugural recipient. :-)
This supplement was played over two major operations:
Soviet offensive called: Mid-Atlantic Ice Storm
US offensive called: Spring Break
Congratulations!
I would be curious to read your impressions about this supplement. Do they play like WWII or do the stronger AFV's dictate using different tactics?
