The 900-day Nazi Siege of Leningrad was one of the most destructive sieges in history, resulting in the deaths of 1.5 million Soviet citizens (mostly civilians). Hitler wanted Leningrad "erased from the face of the Earth" as a symbol of Nazi triumph over Bolshevism in the place where the October Revolution began. But the Red Army was determined that the Cradle of the Revolution would not fall, and made the Germans pay a heavy price for each lifeline into the city that they cut. As the siege dragged on, Mother Russia's greatest ally - the weather - began to weaken the invaders, and that let the Soviets launch a winter counteroffensive that crushed German efforts to link up with their Finnish allies and complete the encirclement of Leningrad. Now with Siege Of Leningrad, Panzer Grenadier players can fight some of the most important battles between German and Soviet forces during this crucial period. |
