Introduction |
---|
The T34/76 represented an admirable balance of speed, firepower, and protection. The T34/57 variant tilted strongly toward the anti-armor role, enough so that it lacked the same ability as the T34/76 to attack enemy infantry and fortifications. For that role, it would be accompanied into battle by a dedicated close-support version, the T34/95 |
Conclusion |
---|
The Exterminator had been maximized to fight enemy tanks; against enemy infantry, it would have relied on its boon companion, the T34/95, to clear a path. The Red Army ended up relying on the various models of the 76.2mm gun to engage both armored and unarmored targets. The Red Army had built what it called "artillery tanks" in the KV and BT series, so a T34 with 95mm gun would not have been a stretch |
