Introduction |
---|
Note: This is a Battle Game including Scenarios 1-5 As stated in the introduction to this section, the point of the BAOR operations was to initially take the starch out of the Soviet advances and permit the NATO mobilization to continue in areas behind the front. With the Americans stretched between Europe and Korea it became imperative for the BAOR to move over to the offensive as quickly as possible to take the pressure off the American forces south of the Ruhr. As a result, the Battle Game for this first stage of the Soviet offensive focuses on whether the Soviets can reach the NATO assembly areas or whether the Maple Leaf Brigade can give them a bloody nose. |
Conclusion |
---|
Canada: The first victory condition focuses on the effect of a constant wearing away of the Soviet force's will to attack. The second condition focuses on the end result of the engagements. Soviet Union: By winning scenario four the Soviets will have driven a hole through the NATO screening forces and created consternation in the assembly areas. The penetration achieved in scenario 2 would be considerably more blunted. |
Additional Notes |

Special Canadian victory condition focusing on the reduction of Soviet initiative. |

Canada won all five scenarios in the battle game, and reduced the Soviets to zero initiative in every game, so major Canadian victory. |
