On the 5th of July, 1943, Germany launched the Second World War's largest offensive committing some tanks, nearly 10,000 artillery pieces and mortars, and 2,110 aircraft to surround the Kursk salient from the north and south. Tne Soviets had anticipated this attack for months and and a defensive belt of minefields and antitank positions almost 250 kilometers deep to halt or exhaust the Germans. Then they planned to counterattack 5ith 5,000 of their own tanks, 25,000 artillery pieces mortars, and almost 2,800 aircraft. Now you can fight the myriad tactical situations encountered by the German and Soviet troops in this titanic bloodbath. |
