Introduction |
---|
The original VII Corps HQ near Stuttgart had been bombed and relocated to the outskirts of Munich. Engineers had turned it into quite the redoubt with bunkers, barbed wire, and minefields. General Gerasimov intended to crush this outpost of capitalism with finality. |
Conclusion |
---|
In this type of Cold-War-gone-hot, the Soviets, with some preparation on their part and inattention on the part of the Western allies, might have succeeded in this series of battles, or maybe not. Winners or not, political objectives achieved or not, this war would probably not have been a good idea. The world's economies were trying to recover from their losses and mountain of debts. Plunging into another war with all the ripples it would cause would be very unpopular, especially in the eastern European countries recently taken behind the Iron Curtain. It's highly likely that success like this on the battlefield would have unleashed nuclear horrors across Europe and Asia. Nevertheless, the tactics and armaments presented here give you a flavor of what it might have been like. We hope you enjoyed our game, and hope that nothing it portrays will ever come to reality. |

The M18 has a special rule in Battle of the Bulge but it applies globally: "A two-step M18 unit can fire one anti-tank shot and move half its movement allowance (retain fractions) in a single impulse. The order in which it does these two actions is the player's choice." (Shad
on 2010 Dec 15)
