Introduction |
---|
More than any other theater, the desert war showed the value of high-morale units. The New Zealand Maori Battalion racked up an impressive war record, though other Kiwi veterans would later grumble that their exploits were exaggerated at the expense of regular units. In the scenario, having lost the hill in the last scenario, the 2nd New Zealand Division commits its highest-morale unit to taking it back. |
Conclusion |
---|
Maori soldiers fought extremely well in North Africa and in Italy, though they were rarely called out of the division for use as a special shock battalion. Second New Zealand Division made good use of their 10th battalion, which gave them tactical flexibility not present in other Commonwealth formations, but the Maori almost always fought under New Zealand command. |
