Introduction |
---|
Mont Pincon was a major objective for the British since it commanded views of all the surrounding terrain. Two battalions of British infantry concentrated at La Bigne on the night of August 2nd with orders to clear the road and adjacent woods all the way to Ondfontaine. At the same time, the Germans were gathering troops to throw the British back. |
Conclusion |
---|
The British jumped off first and managed to gain some ground before the Germans could launch their own attack. Once organized, the German attack proved too powerful and drove the British back beyond La Bigne and Hill 188. The British claim to have taken all their objectives on this day, but a careful reading of the next day's after-action reports shows this to be untrue. |
