Introduction |
---|
The 129th Infantry Brigade of 43rd (Wessex) Infantry Division was charged with securing the village of Maltot. Almost two weeks before, two battalions of the 130th Brigade had come to grief attempting the same. Since then, things had changed. A German infantry division had taken over the sector and the British were close by. |
Conclusion |
---|
The two Wiltshire battalions swept forward, and by 1930 had cleared the Germans from Maltot. Immediately following the departure of the grenadiers of the 271st, the 10th SS and 102nd SS Heavy Tank Battalion attacked the new owners of Maltot, but could not drive them out. The Germans established a line approximately 600 meters south of the village. |
