Introduction |
---|
With the rest of his force under pressure, Heidrich ordered Maj. Egon Liebach of the 7th Airborne Division’s Engineer Battalion to send one of his companies to reinforce the parachute infantry. Liebach didn’t believe that a single company could break through the Greek and New Zealand troops infiltrating between his battalion and the German troops around the prison, so he attacked with a much stronger force the assure that the reinforcements would reach his commander. |
Conclusion |
---|
Liebach spearheaded the attack with two of his companies, which broke through the Greeks to reach Heidrich with minimal losses. His remaining companies disengaged and followed through the opening they had torn in the Greek lines. By dawn Heidrich had collected all of his forces together. |
Additional Notes |

The production print of map 98 is missing 3 town hexes, Avalanche press has created a Map 98 overlay to correct this oversight. Philippe Leonard has also created a very nice overlay for map 98 on Board Game Geek. |

The Greeks stood a better chance of holding back the Persian Army at Thermopylae than here. But there opponent here was the greatest army of its age, the Wehrmacht of Germany, the elite Parachute Engineers of the 3rd Division; a very respected branch. Their immediate opponent, the Greek 8th Infantry Regiment , was tough with decent morale. The most glaring deficiency was Its inability to match German modern firepower infantryman pound for pound. In PoCr, the German PoCr platoon has a firepower of 6-3(5-3 for an para.engineer platoon; 3-2 for a Greek infantry platoon.) The Germans had 73 overall points of firepower,, the. Greeks 68. In the end it did not matter much. Both sides lost very little: Germany lost 5 points, Greece 3. But Greece couldn’t stop Engineers with their breakout |
