Introduction |
---|
With the Koli Point threat contained, the Americans could renew their offensive west of the perimeter. With a fresh Marine regiment (the 8th) and the Army's American Division partially in hand, General Vandegrift believed the Japanese could be driven even further from the perimeter. Unknown to Vandegrift, General Hyakutake had received two battalions as reinforcements and they had just entered the line opposite the Americans. |
Conclusion |
---|
The two fresh Japanese battalions proved strong enough to limit the American advance to a few hundred yards. What wasn't immediately clear was that the casualties suffered by the Japanese would make the next assault a little easier. |
Really |

I must be missing something with this scenario. The Japanese have a bagillion infantry at least 3 hexes deep accross then entire short width of the board. They are all dug in, in the Jungle, except for four hexes that are entrenched. They have higher morale. If that weren't enough the Americans are on the offensive and have to clear out all Japanese units with-in two hexes of 2 objectives that are behind the Japanese lines while losing less than 6 steps. I lost 3 steps on turn one just moving up, 2 more steps on turn 2 and it was over on turn 3. Is there a backdoor to the Island? |
