Introduction

WESTERN FRONT: Along with the other units of 2nd Guards Cavalry Corps that had managed to filter through the lines of the XXXIXth Panzer Corps, Col. M.D. Iagodin's 3rd Guards Cavalry Division became surrounded by hordes of counter-attacking Germans. Ordered to continue attacking west while 20th Army tried to relieve the encircled force, the depleted division sent its troopers off again to attack the German positions based on the village of Karpovo.

Conclusion

The troopers of the 3rd Guards Cavalry Division temporarily drove the Germans back, but increasing pressure forced an end to the foray. Badly depleted by the fighting, with only one of its regiments still functioning as a combat unit, on the next morning the remnants of 3rd Guards Cavalry Division came under the command of the neighboring 20th Cavalry Division.

This scenario could also be played using East Front maps and Red Warriors Counters.

Scenario HoSU012

This scenario is another of the Soviet MARS offensive. While scenario 24 was enjoyable this one is so lop-sided that it was not fun. The reason for this is that the Soviets just have cavalry against a well defended German force. The Soviets must take the town or kill Germans but they will never get close. The Germans have OBA, HMG's and even a 20mm AA guns to stop them and that is what happened. By the fourth turn the Soviets lost 5 steps of cavalry and a leader. At that point we ended it.
