Introduction

On the far eastern end of the Crimea, the German 46th Infantry Division waited on coast-defense duty while the rest of 11th Army broke itself on Sevastopol' fortifications. On the day after Christmas, Soviet troops came ashore at the very tip of the Kerch peninsula. The Germans held their positions at first.

Conclusion

Through ordered to eliminate the Soviet bridgehead, the Germans found themselves on the defensive again. They began to pull back, and the Soviets followed. The retreat soon became a rout. Erich von Manstein, the11th Army commander, blamed the corps commander this time.

Setup: Both the Germans and the Soviets setup as close to the west edge of the board so they can scramble to their respective defense positions.

Play: The Germans gain initiative on the first turn and rush towards Board 8 , an entire map over, to setup a defense line, but the Soviets of course quickly follow and chase the Germans. On turn 10, the Germans have reach their line and begun to dig-in, but are rudely interrupted by the Soviets attack.

The Germans cannot help but slow lose as both they are outnumbered and the Soviets have a greater morale, and thus assault combat favors the Soviets. The Soviets quickly reach the ten steps needed to win, and decide to retreat, leaving the battered Germans to recover and setup a defensive line.

Result: Soviet Victory.
