Palestine Liberation Organization
Summary |
Palestine was not formally declared a state until 1988, the All-Palestine Government was created in 1948 by the Arab League to govern the Egyptian-controlled Gaza Strip. (The West Bank had been annexed by Jordan and was not then considered part of Palestine.) The 20th Palestinian Liberation Army Division was part of the Egyptian army in the 1967 Six-Day War. The division was recruited in the Gaza Strip, but its officers were mostly Egyptian and all held Egyptian commissions.
Note: Palestinian units were included as a separate nationality in the first edition of 1967-Sword of Israel, available only to Gold Club members through the 'Classic Wargames' Program. They were removed for the Second Edition, and the scenarios involving them were rewritten to reflect the fact that the division was part of the Egyptian Army.
