The U.S. intelligence report of Jan 1, 1967 considers this to be an infantry division. The Osprey book of the Sinai campaign (Wikipedia's source) calls it a mechanized division. No other references found of it being a mechanized division until the Yom Kippur War of 1973. Association made by the divion's coanmmander at the time, Major General Abd el Kader Hassan (Abdul Qadir Hassan in the intelligence report). Division composed of 2nd, 7th & 8th Infantry Brigs in the report. |
