These parachute platoons consisted of 2 sections, unlike regular infantry and glider platoons (which have 3). In 1945 this organization was to convert to 3 sections, and the glider formations were to be eliminated. Historically some units converted, but the 511rd parachute infantry regiment maintained the old organization until the end of the war. |
