Two years in the can. Time flies, doesn't it? Fortunately for us new Panzer Grenadier games are being published again and Panzer Grenadier Headquarters continues to evolve, most notably with the addition of our new PG-HQ Forums. The future looks bright!
All of these annual awards are based on what we shall call the PG-HQ Year, in this case - Year 2 - all activity from June 6th 2011 to June 5th 2012, inclusive. Furthermore, in order to be eligible for an award you must have played and recorded at least 6 battles during this period. That's equivalent to achieving our first promotion from Recruit to Private. The reasoning is if you can't play once every 2 months you probably don't deserve an award!
Once again I'd like to honor the dudes who helped keep PG-HQ running like a well-oiled machine over the past year. The General Staff handles new game data entry, error resolution, and consults on design plans. Without them things would progress at a crawl around here. Thank you, gentlemen!
This award is totally pointless but I love it anyway.
At 19:54:34 on 2011 June 6th, U.S Central Time, mike perryman added the first play of PG-HQ's second year. Congratulations buddy, you and your play for Red Warriors #16 were FIRST! in Year 2.
A strong focus on new site features resulted in only 3 articles being published over the last year. Hopefully we can get some more content in Year 3. Last year saw only 1 member step-up to join me in writing for PG-HQ:
The only prerequisite for participation is to have something interesting to say, so if you want to be on this list next year, drop me a line!
Our most prestigious award has a new champion! beast013 not only played an insane 195 scenarios between 2011 June 6th and 2012 June 5th, he crushed the previous year's mark by fully 69 plays. Unbelievable!
- Runner-up: mike perryman, 88 plays
- Second Runner-up: McKinley, 80 plays
The winter upgrade to our Records & AARs system added shared plays to the mix. It's only natural that we craft a new award to recognize he or she that most routinely battles it out with other humans. The Shared Player of the Year award goes to the member who played the most shared games between 2011 June 6th and 2012 June 5th. The inaugural winner is vince hughes with 38 head-to-head matches logged in Year 2. Bravo, old chap!
- Runner-up: waynebaumber, 30 plays
- Second Runner-up: davidthedad, 22 plays
Plays are the fuel that drives our statistics, but the character, the nature of Panzer Grenadier only truly seeps forth from our After Action Reports. This year's most prolific chronicler, with 67 reports filed, is Matt W.
- Runner-up: campsawyer, 63 AARs
- Second Runner-up: JayTownsend, 57 AARs
They just go on and on and on! Hopefully it's all worth reading in the end!
The PG-HQ member with the longest wind in 2012 was armyduck95, who averaged a staggering 1,225 words per AAR over 11 AARs!
- Runner-up: splat99, 1,115 words per AAR over 6 AARs
- Second Runner-up: vince hughes, 847 words per AAR over 39 AARs
Was there even a battle? No one knows because these authors aren't talking!
The PG-HQ member with the lowest average AAR word count in 2012, and therefore the member who most readily got to the point, was maverik, who averaged a miserly 183 words per AAR over 6 AARs!
Easy to Please goes to the member with the highest average scenario rating over the past year. 2012's most perpetually satisfied member was Diocletian with an average rating of 4 flat over 16 scenario ratings.
- Runner-up: TheDoctor averaged 3.8545 over 55 ratings
- Second Runners-up: 10leopard2 and wleonard1 both averaged 3.8333, both over 6 ratings
Conversely, some people just ain't ever happy with their battles. Maybe they have bad luck picking scenarios to play, maybe they simply hold Panzer Grenadier to a higher standard than the rest of us... no matter the reason, we salute their discriminating taste all the same!
2012's most perpetually dissatisfied member was chaserussett with an average rating of 2.75 over 12 ratings.
A new award this year, the Bounty Master award goes to the member with the highest bounty total for the year. This year's winner is KirkH, who claimed a peerless 30,621 points over 211 bounties.

- Second Runner-up: waynebaumber, 577 points for Panzer Lion #10
"We fought and we fought and we fought and we fought... and at the end of the day... nobody won!"
Frustrating I'm sure! In honor of those among us who, try as they might, seem to always get stuck in stalemates, we've created the Decisively Indecisive award.
If you're going to take the trouble to do something, might as well do it the best you possibly can! 2012's most Decisively Indecisive member was wleonard1, who logged 3 draws over 6 plays for a draw rate of 50%!
In 2012, beast013 wore out his shelves and set a new record as he played at least one scenario from fully 39 different games!
- Runner-up: JayTownsend, 26 games
- Second Runner-up: Michael Murphy, 23 games
A familiar name comes to the fore as mike perryman takes home the award for most nations led into battle, having captained 21 different nations over the past year!
- Co-Runners-up: JayTownsend and enrique, 20 nations
Twice the bridesmaid, finally the bride! JayTownsend shakes off his two previous runner-up disappointments and claims the Unit Spice of Life award. Over the past year Jay has led an new record of 471 different units into battle!
- Runner-up: mike perryman, 418 units
- Second Runner-up: Michael Murphy, 374 units
Though you can do battle in Panzer Grenadier with as few as 7 counters, the veterans know that vast, sweeping battles are where the command and control system shines best.
Persian Warlord goes to the member who played the scenario with the largest counter total over the past year. This year's winner is 10leopard2, who marshaled an epic 442 units when he played Beyond Normandy #32!
- Runner-up: campsawyer, 397 units with Tank Battles #23
- Second Runner-up: mo caraher, 389 units with Little Saturn #8
And then there's the general who makes his enemies fight in the shade. Xerxes Reborn goes to the member who commanded the most total units over the course of the previous year. By an absolutely unbelievably huge margin, this award goes to beast013, who led 15,375 units into battle after battle - more than doubling the Year 1 winning total!
- Runner-up: mike perryman, 7,074 units
- Second Runner-up: campsawyer, 5,395 units
On one end of the spectrum, Panzer Grenadier offers a handful of battles that clock in at 105 minutes maximum. At the other end, the iron-grog can immerse himself in multi-day rampages. The Tireless Warrior award is given annually to the member who bagged the longest single scenario by turn total.
This year we honor TheDoctor, who tackled the 288 turn campaign for Cassino '44 #31!
- Runner-up: mike perryman, 216 turns in Red Warriors #8
- Second Runners-up: maverik, waynebaumber, and vince hughes all played Afrika Korps #2 with its 199 turns of agony
But when the dust settles and the battle has finished, the Tireless Warrior may rest, whereas the Tireless Campaigner must carry on until the last of his enemies are scattered to the four winds.
For logging the most total turns in battle over the past year with an exhausting 4,481 turns of death and destruction, beast013 is the 2012 Tireless Campaigner!
- Runner-up: mike perryman, 2,709 turns
- Second Runner-up: McKinley, 1,836 turns
The Cinderella of our Annual Awards, the glorious honor that is LAST! is bestowed upon that user who recorded a play closest to midnight, 2012 June 5th.
This year's winner is vince hughes, who logged a play for Jungle Fighting #16 at 18:35:10, June 5th. Congratulations buddy, you were LAST! in Year 2.
There was only one repeat winner in Year 2, and there were records broken (and in some cases obliterated) all over the place! People are playing more Panzer Grenadier and life is good! See you in 12 months!
