The Germans divided their forces - guns in the west forest, AFVs on the east hilltop. This proved a costly mistake. Soviets entered en masse from the east along the road, then upon contact fanned out to attack the hilltop from two sides. The German guns weren't able to enter the battle before the Panzer IIIs were torn apart in the crossfire. |
