Scenario COOE013

A large Italian colonial force holed up in fortifications surrounded by an even larger Ethiopian force is the theme for this scenario. Basically if the Ethiopians take the fort or/and kill Olol Dinle they win, simple VC, in many ways a simple game with little manoeuvre. The Ethiopians quickly surround the fort and begin a series of assaults on the outer perimeter of dug outs which are cleared before dawn breaks, however the inner circle of entrenchments are a tougher nut and the attack stalls. With day arriving the ominous drone of Italian aircraft are heard and the Ethiopian troops melt back into the bush leaving 250 dead surrounding the fort. Olol Dinle's little army lost 180 men and march back triumphantly to the Italian lines.Played on a single board with a high counter density this scenario soon comes down to assault after assault and in fact becomes slightly tedious after a while. Added to this that all the action is centred on the town hexes in the centre of boarding there is a lot of stack fiddling going on which to is tedious even with my long fingers. Not a scenario I intend to reprise.
