Damn the mud |
---|
It seems like an undramatic scenario. No armour, lots of mud and a horde of Soviet Guards trying to move across the map to roust the Wehracht from Biesti and also attempt to withdraw units from the opposite map edge. The Germans placed an HMG on the rightmost hill close to the Guard deployment map edge and a string of units across the map in front of Biesti. Opportunity fire and artillery helped slow down the Soviets. Some very lucky, or perhaps accurate, artillery fire laid waste to one stack of Soviet infantry and the forces commander. This slowed down what was already a ponderous advance. The Soviets did manage to push the HMG off the hill to the east of the town but at some cost. Once there they spilled down the right flank of the map but were stopped by an infantry gun and infantry that had relocated into the woods south-east of Biesti. The soviets came close to taking the town but were pushed back by the German troops. |
