This was an error in set up. The Soviet 85s were too far back. The German infantry advanced and enabled, spotting for arty. The German armor engaged at range and the forward Soviet positions were chewed up. The 85s did take their toll in the second stage of fighting, but the Germans, having suffered fewer losses in eliminating the Soviet first line, had plenty to take on the main line. The Germans took most of the ridge on map 41 for a major victory. |
