The Germans do not have a lot of time to achieve at least two of the objectives. They have to secure the entire railway embankment from north to south, clear all the 40 meter hill hexes or exit 25 steps of the map. Losses are not an issue as they don't count towards victory. Turn 1-2. The Germans conduct bombardments on the hill to the right with minimal results. The German infantry step off. Turn 3-4. The Germans do take the hill on the right. Soviet armor bulks up the center. Turn 5-7. The Soviets are getting good combo results and the Germans are hit pretty hard across the front. Turn 7-12. The Soviets did not position a rear guard on the railway embankment, but are managing to hold a line across the railway embankment, centered around a 40 meter hill. Turn 12-18. The Germans are unable to clear the railway embankment, nor are they able to come close to clearing all of the 40 meter hill hexes. The Soviet position, though depleted, was too dense to push through and take all of the 40 meter hills. With one of those positions remaining across the embankment as well, no attempt was made to exit units as it was a mute point. A very tough scenario for the Germans. |
