The Battle at Bocholz |
---|
The US placed the M16 platoon so it would have a clear field of fire from the town. The 105mm platoon was positioned in the west end of town to make it a little more difficult to get to. The Germans needed to get those guns, so their strategy was to get into town quickly and have surviving units assault the 105mm position. Despite the presence of the M16 and artillery fire, the Germans were surprisingly successful (lucky) to get most of their platoons to Bocholz. They got into position and assaulted the gun position during the final two turns. However, during that 30 minute period of time, luck was on the US side, as the artillery platoon survived the assaults. This encountered ended as a draw. |
