This is another small fight, a combined US/ROK force has to take out 4 or more steps of NKPA troops in 18 turns or less and are the attackers coming onto the south end of the board. I set up the defense fairly close to the south end, with the NKPA commander and 2 single steps of infantry in the village, the commissar in the woods south of the village where he could respond to demoralized troops, SMGs with a leader in the woods to the east and a single infantry step with an HMG in the woods to the west, with the mortars and sergeant accross the vally dug in on a hilltop where he could support but be less of a target. US captain and one infantry unit entered on the road and drove just into the first woods hex on the hill where he could observe and prepare but stay away from most direct fire. The US Sergeant entered on foot with one Infantry platoon and the recoilless rifle unit, and the LT came in with the other Infantry platoon and the HMG unit, working their way forward while the ROK LT and Sergeant moved around the hill to try to assault the NKPA hq elements. The US LT and the US commander's stack got a combined shot off doing some damage to the western NKPA force, demoralizing the leader there, who ended up fleeing and leaving the troops without leadership to later fall in assault. The first actual NKPA loss was when the ROK LT and 2 platoons entered the hex where the Komissar was and rolled a 9 for his loss. The US troops rolled up the wesern force while the ROK troops disrupted then demoralized the eastern force. The NKPA mortars go called in on the US Captain initially, but then was able to spot for himself as the US troops fired from their woods hexes, and the NKPA mortars were quite effective demoralizing most of the captain's stack' which had become an even larger target when the US sergeant moved in with the infantry and RR platoons, and the mortars took advantage of the extra up-1 for 3 combat units in the hex, promptly demoralizing all but the captain himself. Over the course of the next 2 turns, the western and eastern NKPA stacks were lost with a few demoralized single steps fleeing around the south end of the board. ROK troops entered into assault on the village but failed to take it in the face of determined fire. ROK took a step loss and demoralized, then fled, successfully disingaging without further loss, to regroup in the woods. By this time, NKPA had taken the 4 steps plus 2 more, the NKPA mortars were taking long range fire from HMG and RR, demoralizing one of the 2 units, and the NKPA HQ was comfortably hunkered down in the village enjoying the kimchee. Game called, a ROK/US victory. Great game.
