The Bersaglieri are infinitely tougher than the Blackshirts that the Slovaks needed to deal with in "End Game in Italy" in the First Axis supplement. This should not, however, be taken to mean that they were somehow tough in comparison to the Nisei. They died quickly, although mostly to real casualties and not double demoralization. The Americans advanced from the east and quickly enveloped the Italian front in Pariana. The goal was to get into assault with a leader present as the superior firepower of the American troops in combination with the morale differential would make for quick work. This was all over in 8 turns as the Nisei assaulted the Itlians in Pariana after experiencing some losses from Opportunity Fire on the approach. The assaults were appropriately deadly and the only real problem was the inability of the leaders to maintain their morale and the morale of the Nisei. This was obviously a late war effect as everyone had to know that in April, 1945 the war in Italy was over. The final scenario score was 23-3. The real attraction of the scenario is not the play itself but rather the combination of the Nisei and the Italian troops and the chance to see such a highly unlikely pairing on the board at the same time. The scenario itself plays like a "2" but the novelty earns it a "3". |
