Too many losses | ||||||||||||

The Axis attack started the same way as pretty much every AAR for this scenario: the infantry advanced along the eastern map edge. The Germans were able to locate two gaps in the anti-tank defenses; with the infantry assaulting two of the Aussie eastern entrenchments, the Axis armor swarmed through the gaps. One German and two Italian armor platoons cleared out the northernmost entrenchment just as the Brit armor arrived 600m to their north. The scenario's victory conditions are not mutually exclusive (due to the "either/or" nature of the Aussie objectives). I called the game during the 1745 turn when a fortuitous Aussie assault roll of "2" eliminated a German armor unit (counting as 4 steps lost); that, combined with some prior German step losses, put the Brits over the five step objective. Although the AK could still technically qualify for a win if they could hold two entrenchments (and make the game a "draw" [I guess?]), I called it a Brit win and boxed it up being as they'd reached their objective first. |
