A Quick & Deadly Maori Approach & Close Assault | ||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
This was an excellent, 2-session play-through with the relentless & fearsome Old Pueblo nearly prevailing for the defending Germans holding a bridge over the Platanias River. I happily led the attacking contingent of New Zealand (Maori) troops to a victory that was much like that decribed in another author's AAR. The Maoris moved steadily west, took lots of opfire, and seized the bridge in a fast-paced & high-impact assault that also resulted in a senior leader decapitation for the Jerries. The Maoris managed to secure the initiative in more game turns than the defending German Paras in this one. Unexpectedly, there were multiple, morale recoveries for the attackers, which kept them in the fight. New Zealand pulled off a choice victory in this one, with many German steps & leader losses, to a mere 3 steps for the Maoris. I give this small scenario a solid 4 in SHARED play as published, and also recommend it for SOLO play. We stuck to the regular 4th edition PG rules for this small fight and - for once - used no house rules. |
