The Soviet advance was subject to accurate artillery and mortar fire that caused far too many casualties, while the German ATGs took out a couple of steps of Soviet armor before they were neutralized. The Soviets were close to over running one of the towns when the German reinforcements finally arrived, the Panthers and PzIVs made quick work of the remaining Soviet tanks and TDs to help seal the victory, this time.
