Scenario played out much like the write up, the Soviets cut off & surrounded the Germans on the road and annihilated them, but this allowed the other Germans who spotted the Russian forces to retreat to the safety of the town. At this stage of the game the Soviets did not have the infantry forces nor any artillery support to assault the town without taking heavy casualties, at least not with 4 turns left in the game. Played with Extended Assault and Overrun optional rules.
