Scenario AfKo001

With eight turns and pretty evenly matched forces, the Aussies won initiative in the first turn, and with their HMG and all but one of the Infantry platoons set up in front of the dug-in mortar and single reserve Infantry platoon (also dug-in), began their move forward, and the resulting Italian failure to hit the broad side of a barn, began their death knell. Over the next 7 moves, OBA shots by the Italians hit nothing but lizards basking in the sun, their mortar faired only slightly better with a lone M1 result by turn 8. The Australians were led by a larger number of officers of much higher quality, who consistently directed attacks which enjoyed good result rolls, eliminating two Italian platoons by turn 5 which relegated the Italian goal of seizing hex 821 to pipe-dream status, and giving the Aussies a win. Even with the Australians having an easy go of it during this playing of Scenario #1, I thought it was really fun as it really could have gone either way if the bones were kinder to the Italians, and another try could well prove it.
