This is a well-balanced, introductory scenario. It proved a somewhat frustrating face-to-face encounter with another Afrika Korps and PG beginner like me. As it played out, the Italians were not able to enter hex 1821, and the Australians were not able to eliminate the required pair of Italian units to win. Marshal Graziani's guys charged forward as fast as they could but were dogged by incessant disruptions and demoralizations caused by excellent Aussie opportunity fire. The steadfast, dug-in Australian defenders had fine morale recovery rolls thanks mostly to their high morale ratings. No steps were lost by either side. As others have said, this is a good intro scenario to help get one used to fighting in desert terrain, especially as regards line of sight and the general absence of covering terrain. However, the Italian side needs more than a little luck to approach hex 1821 with any prospect of taking it by assault. |
