This session was mostly an exercise in frustration for the Soviet tank battalion commander who had to cross a good deal of clear terrain in the face of a German 2-company-plus, combined arms task force astride a central road in the woods. No artillery or air support support made this a near impossible-to-win situation for the all-armor, early-war Soviet force. Ten Soviet tank steps (T-34a steps counted as double) were lost and the Germans lost 2 steps in their blundering, but ultmately successful defense of the central woods position. |
