Ouch! A Bloody Nose! |

This quick raid by a Marine company on some Japanese service troops was over almost before it began. The Marines landed just to the east of Kokumbona and began a deliberate advance in line along the shore, with a strong southern flank in the fringes of the jungle. The Marines exchanged fire with a weak platoon of Japanese, clearing them from their path. Meanwhile, two platoons of Japanese moved through the jungle onto the Marine's flank. A brief firefight resulted in light Marine casualties, and they beat it out of there. Japanese victory. A 1-step-loss victory condition really sucks! |
