The American initial setup consisted of defending the two towns with combined arms Battalions and a forward deployed Company and a pair of picket Infantry Platoons. The Germans plan to seize the crossroads and southern town and then consolidate and seize the northern town in conjunction the tank-infantry reinforcements.

The opening third of the fight saw the Germans have great success at the crossroads, have a fixing force delayed in the north and gain a foothold in the southern town. The American artilley has little effect, and they lose two full M4 Platoons in the fight for the crossroads. American illumination rounds help direct fire efforts, but the Germans retain the initiative.

The middle third of the operation consisted of the Germans attempting to reorganize at the crossroads, but they take too longer recovering morale and the American artillery has time to adjust fire. The southern town becomes a slough for the Germans, with an American MG Platoon and 3-inch gun holding off the German attack force. In the north the American infantry Platoon gets destroyed in an assault and the American M18s duel with the Jagdpanzers and StuG Platoons, with great success in close quarters AT fights in the woods.

The final stages of the game see the German reinforcements delayed almost an hour, and then heavily attrited by American artillery at the top of the hour. The Germans seize a foothold in the northern town and seize the hilltop to the northeast. In the southern town, the Germans seize the final hex on the last turn of the game but at great cost. In the northern town, the American M18s desperately attack the Panzer IV reinforcements, destroying three steps but are destroyed themselves in the defense. On the last turn the Americans desperately call for fire on their own assault hex, booting the Germans out of the town with no effects from friendly fire, minus a rattle LT. The German advance seized ground but paid in blood the whole way. The final step losses were 42 for the Germans and 36 for the Americans.

In the subsequent scenario, the Germans will retain the southern town, but American reinforcements have arrived and are determined to drive the Germans from their tenuous positions...

Conclusion: Minor American Victory (52 VP to 45 VP)
