The AH flotilla quickly moved down river with the help of the current (2) to land their Marines on the North shore to eliminate the Serb forces on that side of the river. The Serb gunboats tried to interdict and grapple with the AH, but they did not last long against the AH monitors. With the north side clear of Serb Marines, the AH loaded up and sailed to the southern shore. The Romanian reinforcements were late arriving and sank two AH gunboats but otherwise did not stop the AH from clearing the southern shore.
