Introduction

What remained of the Yano Battalion was all that stood between the Americans and the withdrawing Japanese. The Americans spent two days reorganizing the front and gave the Japanese time to establish defensive positions and collect additional troops to man them. The 6th Marines were relieved on the coast by the 147th Infantry who attacked early on the 30th.

Conclusion

The Yano Battalion fell back before the American advance. The 147th managed to advance almost 2,000 yards with few casualties. The next several days were more of the same as the Japanese gave ground readily. Finally the Americans reached Cape Esperance on the 9th of February only to find the Japanese gone. In the end the Japanese managed to lift about 11,000 men from the island. Behind they left almost 25,600 dead on the island, 3,543 at sea and 1,200 in the air. The Americans, Australians and New Zealanders lost 1,769 dead in the fighting on Guadalcanal, 4,911 in the naval battles and 420 in the air.

Additional Notes

Battle of the Bulge does not have enough infantry counters. Elsenborn Ridge or Cassino '44 do have enough, and may be used for the U.S. units.

Scenario JuFi038

One more grind through the same territory, with the same force compositions. This time its all USA instead of USMC mixed in. Plenty of time to be patient and grind out the last Japanese positions. Which is what happens.

Japanese have a lofty kill count to achieve for the amount of men they have, so they try to densely set up in the south so they have a board edge protecting the southern approaches. The concentration, they hope, will allow them to op fire for a chances at x's and then counterassault. OBA for the Americans rolls well enough to soften them up before they can do much damage though.

Not much else to say that hasnt been said in the dozens of nearly identical scenarios preceding this.
