Introduction |
---|
This valley rolls through the Karkonosze Mountains northeast with two primary routes bisected by a rocky ridge. The valley is fairly wide, but the few roads will channelize the Soviet advance. Knowing this, the Polish defense is easier to deploy than on the more open plains to the north. |
Conclusion |
---|
The initial Soviet plan of General Babadzhanian calls for a charge toward Wroclaw through the enemy defenses, leaving strongpoints to be reduced by follow-on echelons. In this case, the valley is too easy to choke and so must be cleared of enemy forces to allow for follow-on forces to advance unhindered. |
