Introduction |
---|
After rest and refitting, the Soviet 18th Tank Corps (misidentified as the 18th Mechanized Corps in some accounts) mustered almost at full strength. They easily brushed aside the Romanian 3rd Infantry Division's defenses around Jassy and drove through Voinesti. They almost reached Poiana de Sus before encountering serious resistance. They kept advancing past dark. |
Conclusion |
---|
The Soviet assault overwhelmed the 3rd Motorized Vanatori Regiment who slowly retreated southward. Unlike the previous two Soviet offensives which stuttered to a halt after some initial success, this time the Axis defenses truly shattered and Romanian Fourth Army headquarters ordered a general retreat. |
