Some of us STILL have that problem. There isn't much of a depiction of terrain....maybe here and there on some of the earlier games/boxes but nothing "permanent". All I can say is that heavy woods/jungle generally is depicted as a tighter or move covered hex, while the light woods/jungle hexes are more sparingly covered. If there is any question on a given hex, you can settle it with your opponent before "battle".
