The author has posted a number of these videos. My son and I watched quite a few so he could better understand some conflicts.

Korean War: Counter-Attack

With Counter-Attack getting very close to release now I thought I would get the hype going again! Counter-Attack is the second game in the Korean War mini-series within the Panzer Grenadier series. Korean War: Pusan Perimeter was the first in the series: http://www.avalanchepress.com/gamePusan.php and now followed by Korean War: Counter-Attack with six maps instead of four: http://www.avalanchepress.com/CounterAttackMaps.php and will include 65 scenarios counting the two introduction scenarios. Developers John, Daniel and Matt have spice up my design, with Guy Riessen map artwork, Mike, Susan and Beth’s production in counter art, box and overall package design and development making this a fantastic game.

From a designers point of view, while designing this game and the whole Korean War in a PG format, which will include the games: Pusan Perimeter, Counter-Attack and Intervention and lastly the supplement called Allies for a total Four products covering the whole Korean War and maybe more in the future. But while starting Counter-Attack a few years ago, I thought this would be a one way cake-walk but after studying and reading the history on the subject it was anything but that. Sure the U.N. and American and ROK forces start getting plenty of reinforcements and tried to go on the offensive, but the well trained and well equipped in Soviet weapons, NKPA would have none of that and were stepping up their on offensive campaign.

Here is a list of just some of the 65 scenarios: The Bloody Gulch, The Naktong Bulge, Obong-ni. In no order: Task Force Hill, Task Force Davidson, Task Force Hannam and Task Force Lynch. Also: Battle Mountain, Kigye, The Great Naktong Offensive, Inch’on (2 scenarios), The Han River with an Amphibious crossing, Cloverleaf Hill, The Eastern Corridor, including an evacuation by sea, The Taegu Front, The Bowling Alley battles, Seoul’s Western Rampart pitting the highly trained NKPA 25th Brigade against the US and ROK Marines. Battles for Seoul and the Battle of the Barricades, Breaking the Cordon, Delaying Actions with dug-in T34/85s vs. Patton tanks, The ROK 1st Division advances, The fall of P’yongyang, the north Korean capital an actual US para-drop and the death of the NKPA 239th Regiment.

There is back and forth action in all the scenarios from beginning to end. Counter-Attack adds many new unit/counter types from underwater bridge markers, helicopters, amphibious landing craft and armor vehicles and mix of British units with more to follow in the Allies supplement.

After reviewing my scenarios the other day, I am very excited about the submitted product and even more excited to see the finished product. Counter-Attack is going to be a very fun game with all types of scenarios. The Korean War will come alive on wargamer’s tables hopefully very soon. Inventions will be the next game in the Korean war series.

M46 Patton Tank.

The first version of the Patton Tank is about to arrive to PG gamers in the Korean War: Counter-Attack game.

True it is basically an upgraded Pershing tank with an larger engine and added wheel in the track but it is the first Patton Tank.

Jumbos (Easy 8) are all over the place in Korea: counterattack ! But is their armor correct ? Jumbo usually have 6 armor and not 3 like other shermans.

RE: The Korean War Series Project!
I don't know about Jumbos being all over the place in the Korean War. Most of the Sherman tanks were M4A3(76) and I get that from most of my sources. Jumbos were too heavy and slow and defeat the purpose of maneuverability. The Shermans start to get replaced with M26s and M46s with better armor but still remain in some smaller numbers throughout the conflict.
