The Japanese had a fairly good drop and were able to roll quickly into the attack against the airfield defenders. I think what made them finally just roll over the Dutch was taking the risk and hitting them with two stacks of three infantry platoons in the center and an HMG with two infantry platoons on the flank. With the high Japanese morale, it was worth the risk. The Japanese only lost two steps and those large stacks with the extra mod for being Japanese infantry were powerful assault stacks.
