Assault column modifiers
Specifically: +1 all units of attacking side have higher morale than all defending units. A little confused here, could someone break this down for me? Are they stating attacker always has higher morale so they get the bonus?

If two good order German GREN with morale 8 assault a good order Soviet INF with morale 7, the bonus applies to the German assault column.

If, however, a German GREN with morale 8 and a Luftwaffe INF with morale 7 assault a Soviet INF with morale 7, the bonus does not apply to the German assault column.

Leaders have no affect on this.

Of course, if two Italian INF of morale = 7 assault two DEM Soviet INF (normal morale = 7), then: (1) the Italians get a +1 col shift because of higher morale (both Soviet units have effective morale = 6) AND (2) get a +1 col shift as all defending units are DEM.

Ok and ties would negate the bonus also?

My fault I see in your second example you addressed the tie. Thanks for answering my question so quickly!

Yes.

Also remember reduced units, most likely have a lower morale too. So if the attacker has 8/6 morale with a reduced unit in his mix, no bonus.

Reduced unit being one with a step loss correct?

Yes,

As Camp was suggesting, if the Germans have 8/6 morale and the Soviets 7/6 say, then a full strength and a reduced strength German GREN pair assaulting full strength and reduced strength Soviet INF units would have no morale-based column shift in the assault. ALL units of the attacking side must have a GREATER morale than ALL of the defending units (leaders excepted). In fact, even if the Germans are 8/7 morale in the case above, there would be no col-shift bonus.

RE: Assault column modifiers
Try to assault Japanese in entrenchment to see this work for the defenders.
