New counter format
I received RJW yesterday, first of the new style Avalanche ultra thick laser cut then printed counters. Amazing. The countersheet comes to you looking like a thin sheet of board, cutting not even visible. You have to apply quite a bit of pressure to free the counters from the sheet. There are very small sprue nubs on the centers of some sides, you might want to emery-board them away. The printing is perfect, and since the burn marks are beneath the printing, there is no soot at all on the obverse or reverse of the counters. The counters are 1/8th inch thick, feel like they are printed on oak, and can be set up standing on the map with no trouble.

Should be interesting setting up scenarios with counters from different sets. One Korean counter will reach the standard PG stacking limit. Three will be as tall as one die.

The material the counters were painted on yields a matte finish. Looking forward to seeing the new utility coutersheet, which may show up with Korea.

I also noted a tendency of mixed counter types to slide, especially when using the diecut, glossy markers with laser cut units/leaders.
No "minor" country left behind...

RE: New counter format
So they're thicker than the older laser cut counters, right? I have Panzer Lehr and several VPG games which use laser cut counters....

Amazingly thicker. Think of them as tiles from a Euro-game.

I think you said it better, by calling them planks of wood. Tough to remove from the sheets and you will need a band saw to trim the corners.

I actually trimmed all the corners of my 1967 counters with a toe-nail clipper. Just a very light cut to get rid of the sharp edges and they come out very nice but I do that with all my games.

RE: New counter format
So all your games are potentially contaminated with toenail fungus. Remind me not to buy from you on marketplace.
