Airborne scenarios
Anyone know what scenarios are included in this 3rd edition of Airborne? ...specifically, are the 35 scenarios contained in any of the games that have come out since, and which games? (I'd hate to buy this only to find out I already have them!!! Tongue)

Airborne is a book supplement for the Panzer Grenadier series. It contains 35 scenarios set in the Normandy countryside: 20 of them from the long-out-of-print boxed game, 14 new ones by Mike Perryman, and one mega-scenario by Patrick Callahan. Plus the usual background material.

You can check the scenarios in the library/scenarios section of this site. I don't have either one but that would be the best place to check.

RE: Airborne scenarios
Several of the scenarios that were included in previous versions have been "reengineered" to take advantage of new maps, etc. I would say that at least half of the scenarios are either completely new or substantially varied. That is an estimate, not an exact calculation.
No "minor" country left behind...

RE: Airborne scenarios
Thanks mates. I did a quick excel spreadsheet that outlines the differences. You can find it here...

Now seeing Matt's post, the "re-engineering may make it a mute point in some ways....though there are a couple dozen scenarios that are missing between sets, and new maps or not, might prove good fodder for upgraded scenarios on your own.

RE: Airborne scenarios
Just to make clear, none of the scenarios in the Airborne book have been re-used in products used since the book came out. If you buy any other Normandy themed product (Panzer Lehr, Beyond Normandy, Black SS) you will not be rebuying anything.

RE: Airborne scenarios
Thanks Larry. That's good to know.

I'm considering the benefit of picking up the 1st edition of Panzer Grenadier at some point (yeah, I know....it's oop), for the hard mounted boards alone. Yes, there are only a few, but I love mounted boards.

RE: Airborne scenarios
Plus you'd have a few unusual items, the early version of the 150 sp artillery, the rules for using batallion headquarter with headquarters counters, and the original point system for creating DYO scenarios. All these were dropped from 2nd and 3rd edition products.

The goal of everybreakthru force was to over run the enemy's H.q.........

Note that Heroes of the Soviet Union also came with hard mounted boards.
