Light/(Medium)/Heavy Woods/Jungle?
An interesting conundrum has come up whilst T-rex and I bashed our heads together in yet another battle. We came across an area of "woods" that I defined as "light/heavy" and T-rex defined as "light/(regular) woods". The "Foils" (as they refer themselves as), have stated that in the case of two differing types of woods, they will be referred to as 1) Light woods. 2) Regular woods. This is well and fine, but I defy anyone, then, to come with a place where "Heavy Woods" is the preferred term.
I, for one, have never seen an instance where there have been three "levels" of woods present on a scenario map. If, as the "Foils" suggest, that the two leveled woods scenarios are referred to (and played as) what happened to the "Heavy Woods"? On the "Terrain Chart" there is three levels of woods mentioned (Light Woods/(Regular) Woods/lHeavy Woods) clearly listed, with various effects.
Then, once you have figured THAT one out..... Play tell, how is it that the "Jungle" listings are the same way, a three way split, but with only two types of "jungle? Anyone?
Incidentally, this is NOT "rules lawyering", this is clarification.

RE: Light/(Medium)/Heavy Woods/Jungle?
I've never seen heavy jungle appear in a game, at least I haven't seen it. Light jungle is in the Kokoda games and Saipan and its expansions. Heavy woods, or its variations of dense woods or forest, appeared in Lions of Finland, Arctic Front and Arctic Front Dx, and that by GSR.
So, I wouldn't say there were light/heavy woods as part of my nomenclature, it would be light/regular in the absence of a special rule. That said, the rule which would apply would be based on the percentage of the more severe terrain. The standard (per rule 8.24) is 25%. My method is determining a half of a half by laying ruler or LOS thread across the corners of a hex, with the questionable terrain all on one of the ruler/thread. In the light/regular woods question, if the regular woods art is more than half of that half, it's a regular woods hex. Also, try to resolve questionable hexes before starting the game.
... More and more, people around the world are coming to realize that the world is flat!

Yep, rules lawyers patronize their opponents with their "correct" interpretations of the rules, and won't budge to consider other interpretations, or decide rule interpretation mismatches in a scenario by simply flipping a coin.
Sadly, there is no point playing with those that feel the need to argue or pontificate about game moves each and every activation. Shoot, deciding on the rule set you want to use before playing, and then throw even-odd die rolls if there are opposing interpretations. IOW, do it the way that goosebrown, Chaco and the T-Rex play online.

The objective of having a "common" set of rules is so that everyone can "play" the game with the warm and fuzzy feeling that your opponent won't have a "special" (Read: "house") rule to confound, upset or otherwise surprise you. THAT is my objective... in the long run it keeps everything on the "up and up" and precludes arguments, and allows one to concentrate on the tactics of the battle rather than trying to remember the "variations" of the rules. (The simpler - the better!)

RE: Light/(Medium)/Heavy Woods/Jungle?
I read the items that Peter referred to.... and have discovered that the Dense Woods are specially designed for certain scenarios... which would be listed in the foreword in the scenario books. Therefore the "Foils" are right and I have finally gotten it straight in my head. (Another "lose end" tied up!) Thank you, Peter.
Now, about that "dense jungle" ........
