Aircraft Adjacent tto Attacked Hex?
If aircraft are placed on top of their attacked hex a per 15.11 4th, how and why should they get the +2 column shift for attacking adjacent units as stated in 15.13 4th?

Maybe it means attacking enemy units in hexes adjacent to your own ground units? That might improve their ability to locate the enemy?

Yes, see what you're saying.

One other thing. Maybe the Assault Table in a dive bomb / sfrafe attack, aka Ju87 or Me109. That would be killer.

I think the change, the +2 for air attacks is a change from the 3rd Edition, was to make aircraft more effective. Before, unless something like a P-47 arrived, there wasn't much to worry about. Now aircraft can be effective. You worry about a Me-109, and dread a P-47 when the +2 is involved.

Look at it a a direct fire unit with the adjacent part being the altitude of the plan related to the troops. Don't forget to roll for a successful target by the airplanes. I have been sorely disappointed when my air support can't follow simple directions and bomb the wrong place.

Yep, this.  Being above is still being adjacent.  Smile

Or, if it helps you, figure that putting the plane on the hex just indicates the target hex. Really the planes are moving along strafing and can fire in the next hex out... so adjacent.
