BF loss with AT gun
Help me wrap my head around this one...

Bf fire on a town with a Gren and AT gun hits on 21/30 column. If the results had been a m2/X I'd lose the gun and Gren takes a m2. A x/x and I could lose the gun or gren and other takes an m2. The nasty Russians rolled a 2 which gives a x/2x. The 2x is throwing me for a loop.

I'm thinking I HAVE to lose the gun and gren takes a m2?

Or... since it's x/2x both the gun and the gren take a hit.

Yeah... probably that...

Yep, the gun and the Gren takes hits.

I think Rich missed a detail.  AT guns were spotted.  Grens were not spotted.  Any difference?

RE: BF loss with AT gun
If Bf in the first post stands for bombardment fire, then the spotted gun crew is no more vulnerable than the grenadiers.

No difference.

8.0 Spotting (second paragraph)
Bombardment Fire is similar in that it affects the whole hex and at least one enemy unit in the target hex must be spotted, but either the firing unit OR a friendly leader can spot the enemy for Bombardment Fire.

High explosive shares the love, both directly and through colleral damage.

Yeah, I wasn't worried about the spotted part, just the 2x/x part. I usually don't do 'double jeopardy' with the at guns and inf sharing a hex (only 1 loss on a x/x result) but wasn't sure how to parse the 2x/x.

Yep, spotted or unspotted the HE sends those splinters everywhere.

Neither do I; I apply the same procedure as you do, with the owning player having the choice to which unit to apply the loss.
