This was actually a situation where two hexes of Howitzers, adjacent to an enemy unit both fired at the
enemy unit.  They did not combine---had they combined---that's a very interesting difference....in that case 
I think you're saying the discussion was they would not suffer a Friendly fire situation...

They did not combine in this case, so it was two different "over open sights" fires at the MTN troops....
Thus, in each bombardment, the other Arty was adjacent---subject to Friendly fire....

I wonder if Friendly fire should even be assessed in a situation where you're firing across open sights?
I mean---you're looking at them and pulling the trigger.....
