The Batteries are Howitzers, and are both adjacent to the MTN troops....
In a desperate attempt to prevent them coming off the hill into my hexes-- I activate
both to fire on the MTN troops.....
For the moment let's ignore they are on a hill....
This is a Bombardment into a visible Adjacent hex....So The question of Friendly fire comes up.....
But, it's also adjacent hex---firing over Open Iron sights....
So firing on the MTN troops it's +1Visible to firing unit; +2Adjacent to firing Howitzers -- +3....
Rolling for Friendly fire---sigh....yes, I did....
I get -1Friendly fire....Visible is ignored from Friendly fire(as table clarifies)..... but there is no stricture to ignore for friendly fire for the +2 Adjacent....
We concluded that the intent would be the +2 does NOT apply--- You're not actually Bombarding--your pointing theĀ
howitzers over Open Sights...and that would be a full 60degrees off the direction of your enemy....
Thoughts?....Should it be a rule as such?
I don't know if there's an official rule, but I know there has been discussion of ignoring friendly fire against the firing unit (if they're stacked with other units it might apply).
