They still have to get the bridge and that will be the Slovaks best chance of inflicting plenty of casualties as the enemy advance. With equal morale and the Slovaks getting the advantage of sitting and waiting to take their first pops, I would say it is their best chance. Of course, here and there you may have to fire brigade that group, but thats what defenders do.
My concern with letting the Hungarians cross the river unopposed is they could encircle the Slovak position within 8 turns.
The 1x8 + 1x15 OBA may not sound terrifying to one accustomed to lead German troops but my limited experience as a Slovak and Ecuadorian leader suggests such a powerful OBA has a good chance to decimate my troops. I chose to keep open the option to retreat to the far west town, perhaps incorrectly.

I rated it a "3" but a strong "3" as the Slovak had options to counter-attack when they had a local superiority. I also suspect it plays better ftf than solo.
I'd be curious to see pictures of your setup and how the game progressed if you and Wayne ever decide to try it.
Don't tell me afterwards I did not warn you about the OBA.
